I think the thing that upsets me the most about this whole “fake geek girls” thing is that the geek guys who say that it’s running rampant these days is that this is a group of people who have been ostracized and belittled for their love of geeky things their entire lives. And now that geek has gone mainstream, geeks — both male and female — are coming out of the woodwork. So, what if they have varying ideas about what geeky is. Who cares that attractive women cosplay and look effing fabulous doing it? I know some absolutely GORGEOUS nerds who know how to cosplay with such amazing panache it would make your head spin! And not only do they look good, they are the BIGGEST nerds I know! They have all been through the ridicule and ostracizing that the boys have been through. All because they love being geeks. It shouldn’t matter if they are hot, or NOT. Geeks should embrace other geeks and bring them into the fold. And also, if they aren’t geeks and they want to LEARN about being geeks, then you should teach them and make them feel at home! Because seriously, we all LOVE being geeks. It’s in our blood, it makes us outrageously happy, and we should share the Joy of Geekdom.
This blog article, which was tweeted by my geeky awesome friends on twitter Insatiable Book Sluts is so wonderful, that I had to share it.
The Fake Geek Girl Has Got To Go. I fully back this. As a geek girl, I’m not sure I could have said it better.

So many people have decided it makes them a ‘geek’ or ‘dweeb’ because topshop have started the topshop ‘chic’ using tops to ‘define’ a person. Mostly these tops are everywhere and I’ve been seeing some definite NOT geeks wearing these t-shirt’s!
I dont understand why they even brought these t-shirts out because theyre just part of a false sense of self?
