April 24, 2013 – Hollywood, CA
Well, it’s completely official. The Gibson Theater in Universal City, which opened in 1972, and can host up to 6,189 people for concerts and events will see it’s curtains fall in September of this year. The Gibson has been the host of events such as the Teen Choice Awards and MTV’s Movie Awards for several years, but with the anticipation of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s opening sometime in 2015, events have already started to move to other venues like LA Live.
I saw The Who’s Tommy (the musical) at The Gibson something like 15 years ago (wow did I just date myself….yeah, I think I did) and loved the venue and the show.
But, as a Potterfile, I am more excited for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter than, well, practically ANYTHING, really. Maybe even marriage….
So, adieu to the Gibson and it’s grand history, but HELLO Harry!!!!
