I know how many of you loved The Avengers. It was probably one of the best superhero movies ever made. And why? Well in this blogger’s not so humble opinion it was because of the master mind behind it….Joss Whedon.
He was the mastermind behind The Avengers, as well as Firefly (one THE greatest TV Shows ever made) as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Cabin In The Woods and a myriad of other awesome shows and movies.
And, many of you know that he is not only making the sequel to The Avengers, but also a TV show based on the organization from the comics and movie called S.H.I.E.L.D. Well, up there is the first official show poster for the series which will air on ABC, starting September 24 at 8/7C.
Agent Phil Coulson: Clark Gregg
Melinda May: Ming-Na Wen
Grant Ward: Brett Dalton
Skye: Chloe Bennett
Leo Fitz: Iain De Caestecker
and a special appearance by none other than Ron Glass who played Shepard Book in Firefly.
One of the things we know from being HUGE fans of Joss, is that he LOVES to re-use actors he’s already worked with. I am of the opinion it’s because Joss is AMAZING to work with, and having met him, I can tell you he’s SUPER nice. And he knows good talent when he sees it. I know the members of the Firefly cast would do anything for him, and probably have, and while many of them have steady shows now, would find a way to work it out if Firefly went back into production.
For those of you, like me, who’s only exposure to S.H.I.E.L.D. was from the Avengers movie, here’s a little bit about it from our very good friend, Wikipedia:
S.H.I.E.L.D. is a fictional espionage and law-enforcement agency in the Marvel ComicsUniverse. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Strange Tales #135 (Aug. 1965), it often deals with superhuman threats.
The acronym originally stood for Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division. It was changed in 1991 to Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate.
Within the various films set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as in the animated series The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the acronym stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
I don’t know much about the comics. I am sadly lacking in comic book nerdom. I hope to change at least SOME of that in the weeks and months to come, but as far as epic TV shows go, I’m definitely in to that! And this looks like it’s going to be effing AMAZING!!!!!
